Vanessa R Vaughan is an artist originally from Toronto who currently resides in sunny Los Angeles, California. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Special Honors degree from York University specializing in Studio Art, Art History, Film and the Humanities.

Vaughan’s vivid paintings feature her passion for water, the human form and the cottage experience. Her love for rowing and canoeing is evident in a number of her paintings. Her art reflects a vivid, bold and visually rich world inspired from growing up on an island in the Muskoka Lakes region of Canada with its constant changing light patterns reflecting off of the water and vibrant sunsets.

She has taught art workshops in Toronto, Los Angeles and in New York City, where she lived for several years. She spearheaded the first integrated Art and Sign Studio for Deaf and Hearing children at the renowned Avenue Road Arts School, bringing children from different cultures together in a creative Art and ASL environment. She also moonlights on the side as an ASL Coach.

Vaughan always welcomes portrait and landscape painting commissions and exhibits her artwork throughout North America. Vaughan has freelanced for various art departments, performed in film, television and written and directed short films. In the 80s Vaughan co-starred with Kiefer Sutherland in Crazy Moon, in the 90s she was nominated for a Gemini Award in The Sound and The Silence and in the mid 2000s she performed in the Academy Award winning film, Away from Her, directed by Sarah Polley. Vaughan was recently featured in a Los Angeles magazine, being selected as one of the Thought Provokers and Artists to watch and she is currently co-creating an upcoming feature film. Vaughan is also featured in the bibliolographical publication, Canada’s Who’s Who.
